Two cups created as companions.
 
I hand-formed this pair together, painting each cup in energetic relationship with the other. Beginning with rich dark clay, I poured and hand-painted flowing layers of white engobe and glaze across each cup, allowing the forms to emerge in response to one another. When placed side by side, the sweeping gestures seem to reach toward each other, as though longing to meet.
 
During their making, I placed the cups within an infinity symbol of rose petals on my altar, allowing that symbol of enduring love to become part of their creation.
 
As I worked, I read poems on loving devotion from the Radiance Sutras, inviting those words into every stage of the process.
 
The contrast between dark earth and luminous white reminds us that the deepest connection often reaches beyond words. When we pause long enough to truly be present with one another, we can meet heart to heart and soul to soul.

Each Lovers' Cup is embossed with my Hihemmm symbol—my tantric name, meaning creator of love—which I place on every piece as a quiet blessing for the relationship it is invited to serve.
